Register For Holiday Lights

WPMS Holiday Lights is a month-long event organized by Woodley Park Main Street. All Main Street businesses are invited to decorate their storefronts with holiday lights for the month of December—attracting residents & visitors from across the District to explore, shop, and dine in Woodley Park this holiday season.

KEY DETAILS

  • All decorations must be completed by December 1 when voting will be open to the public.
  • Judges and public participants will vote for their favorite holiday light displays in 7 categories.
  • The Overall Best In Show winner will receive either a free Online Marketing Audit or a free brand refresh (winner’s choice) from Megan Flynn Marketing.
  • WPMS Holiday Lights has joined forces with DC Holiday Lights, a District-wide holiday lights event organized by District Bridges. As part of DC Holiday Lights, there will be a multi-neighborhood DC Holiday Lights Scavenger Hunt, which incentivizes residents to visit participating commercial corridors in DC and vote for the neighborhood with the best light displays. Being a part of this broader event  means more exposure and foot traffic for Woodley Park!
  • The citywide Holiday Lights (Virtual) Award Ceremony will announce winners and feature participating businesses for a night of celebration. The winning neighborhood will also be announced.

AWARD CATEGORIES

The public will determine the People’s Choice Award by voting for their favorite by December 14. A panel of independent judges will select winners for the remaining award categories, including Best in Show. All awards will be announced at the Holiday Lights (Virtual) Award Ceremony on Wednesday, December 16, 2020.

  2. Most Creative Use of Lights
  3. Most Colorful Lighting Display
  4. Best Window Display
  5. Best Use of Merchandise (feature your amazing products)
  6. Overall Best of Show (judges’ choice)
  7. People’s Choice Awards (based on public voting)

THE PRIZE

The winner of the Overall Best In Show award will receive a free Marketing Assessment & Action Plan or a free brand refresh from Megan Flynn Marketing!


The prize includes either 1) an in-person consultation to determine your business needs and goals and an action plan tailored to your business with actionable recommendations and a resource list, or 2) a brand refresh that includes a logo, color scheme, and brand assets. These services are valued at $300.

Your business will receive a lot of free advertising for participating in Holiday Lights! You will be included in press materials sent to print, online and broadcast media outlets across the District. The event website will list your business with your address and any holiday promotional activities offered during the month of December. 


Plus, Woodley Park Main Street Holiday Lights has joined forces with DC Holiday Lights, a broader citywide holiday lights effort. As part of DC Holiday Lights, there will be a citywide DC Holiday Lights Scavenger Hunt, which encourages and incentivizes residents to visit each commercial corridor in DC. This will bring extra foot traffic to Woodley Park during the holidays.
