We Are Woodley Park

Woodley Park Main Street promotes urban revitalization and investment in Woodley Park’s commercial centers, to ensure economic stability for its businesses and a safe, beautiful community for its people.

What is a Main Street

DC Main Streets is a comprehensive program funded by the Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) that promotes the revitalization of commercial districts in the District of Columbia. Created in 2002 through the National Trust for Historic Preservation, DC Main Streets serve as the citywide coordinating program that provides services and funding for the designated Main Streets programs in the District of Columbia.

The Main Street Four Point Approach®

DC Main Streets builds on the Main Street Approach® that was developed by the National Main Street Center in 1980 to assist commercial revitalization efforts nationwide. The Approach consists of four points which work together to build a sustainable and complete community revitalization effort in the following areas:

  • Organization
  • Design
  • Economic Revitalization
  • Promotions

MEET OUR PROGRAM MANAGER

De'Andre Anderson

De’Andre has been living in Washington DC since 1999. He is a small business owner, starting the Anderson Sports Officiating Company (A-SOC) in December, 2018. The organization is a certified Minority-Business Enterprise (MBE). It officiates little league, High school, and Collegiate sports throughout the mid-Atlantic region. Like many businesses here in DC, A-SOC was hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic when schools and universities canceled all spring and summer sports. De’Andre had to familiarize himself with the DC micro-grant, the PPP and other SBA programs to keep the business afloat. Now, as the Woodley Park Main Street Manager, De’Andre will help businesses along this corridor to keep their doors open and thrive in our community.

De’Andre formerly served the U.S. House of Representatives for 17 years navigating the legislative process.

De’Andre’s favorite job is being with his daughter, who is in elementary school. During his free time, he loves volunteering for DCPS advisory boards, going to baseball games, and going to the movies.
